About Us

Hi, I'm Lori Payne. My husband Ken and I own and operate A Pawsitive Experience Pet Spaw. We opened our boarding kennel in April 2005, after Ken and I had both retired from the Ontario Provincial Police.

We have always been animal lovers (me especially). I have always been an advocate of animal rescue, and have opened my home to numerous abandoned, abused and neglected animals over the years. I am certified in Animal First Aid by Fanshawe College.

I have many years experience in dealing with animal behaviours such as fear, separation anxiety, aggression and eating disorders, to name a few. It takes a lot of love and patience to deal with scared and abused animals - but I have found that given enough of both they will reward you with unconditional love and joy.

At the present time we are the proud parents of 2 dogs, and 3 cats - all rescues. Our love of animals is what prompted us to think about working with them after our retirement.

I had spent several months volunteering with local vets to determine if going back to college at my age would be a viable option, but during that time we determined a need for a caring, loving pet boarding facility.

We certainly know how difficult it can be leaving your family with strangers to go on vacation. It is a relief to be able to bring them to a facility where you can be confident that they are being treated with love, patience and kindness.

We have a 50 acre wooded property with plenty of trails, and a dead-end wooded country road for our clients to enjoy on their daily walks. We care for our clients as if they are our own, and spoil them rotten, just like our own family.

Since opening we have had so much success with our kennel that we have had to expand and hire someone full time. In December 2008 we put in an additional eight kennels – giving us a total of 15 single and 3 double suites.

Jamie has been working for us for two years now. She comes to us with a College background in Veterinary Assistant Program. She has completed over 200 hours volunteer work with local veterinary offices assisting in examinations, grooming, administering medication and kennel operations. She has two rescue dogs of her own and has a good understanding of animal behaviour. We are very pleased with her work ethic and the rapport that she has with the animals. She is a great asset to the type of setting we want to create for our guest.

We would like to thank our valued clients for their continued support and great references that they give us. We are quite attached to our clients and certainly do miss them when they are not here.

If you have any further questions about our facility please feel free to contact us, and we will be happy to help you.
